We wish all our clients a Happy Easter. As always our vets will be available to provide our 24/7 service over the Easter weekend. Please do not hesitate to call us if you are concerned that your pet is sick, injured, in pain or distress.
On Wednesday 20th March the practice computer system will be undergoing maintenance. As a consequence there will be no access to computer records, we therefore kindly ask clients not to call to try and book routine appointments, request repeat prescriptions or try to make payments on this day. For clients with pets on long term therapy please ensure you have enough medication to last through this period. The surgery will be open 9am-5pm to provide care for sick and injured patients only, our out of hours service provision will be unaffected.
We apologise for any inconvenience this process may cause. We want to reassure our clients that we will be here to provide care for your pets. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are concerned your pet is unwell, in pain or distress.
The deadline for registering for XL bully exemption, January 31st 2024, is fast approaching. To comply with the regulations XL bully-type dogs are required to be neutered, however it is important to note that XL bully owners can register their dog for exemption before they are neutered. Registration must be done by the deadline. For full details on preparing for the ban and to register your XL bully dog go to the following link on the gov.uk website.
Evidence of neutering, veterinary certification, must be provided by 30th June 2024 for dogs older than 1yr on January 31st. Dogs younger than 12 months on January 31st they must be certified as neutered by 31st December 2024.
To help XL bully owners struggling financially to fulfil the exemption requirements the Blue Cross, Battersea and the RSPCA have joined forces to help offer financial support towards the cost of neutering. The scheme will be launched on 5th February 2024 through the Blue Cross Veterinary Care fund. Clients looking to seek this help will need to approach their veterinary practice who will have to apply on their behalf, payments for successful applications will go directly to the veterinary practice. The amount the charity will award, to eligible individuals, will vary depending on the dog's gender and procedure.
Clients are advise to be prepared for delays when travelling to the surgery from Tuesday 2nd January until Monday 8th January 2024. During this time Roman Road will be closed eastbound (towards Worcester) from the Starting Gate roundabout to the junction of Old School Lane, due to cabling works. The road will remain open to motorists travelling westbound. Where possible we advise clients try to plan their route to access the surgery from the east, e.g. College Road or Ayelstone roundabout, allowing additional time for their journey. Access to residents and clients from the west should be possible by asking an operative at the Starting Gate roundabout to allow access to the surgery.
